Below are photos from our second shooting again at Goytre Wharf, this time with only two actors, using the shelter pictured below and the rock wall.

Trial runs for our Movie Title-15/02/16
We decided to look at possible ideas for our movie title. To do this we started with a letter 'D' and trialed different effects and colours on this to see which one we felt worked best.
We decided that the blue worked best as it also matched with our billing block and company logo we created. We then looked at existing movie titles for inspiration. We decided following 'Divergent' we would make the first letter of our movie title bigger than the rest. We then decided upon a text which was similar to the one used in the 'Divergent' movie title. Even though the blue was our favourite we decided to try a number of effects within our movie title to make our final decision, they are shown below;
After trying all of these we still felt the blue looked best and would fit in with the themes we had created so far. So our final decision was to use the blue title. We decided to create a word within our title being 'Die' so that we could create mystery among our audience, we also felt it would help our title to stand out more on a poster and on the trailer. Our decision to take the line away from the 'A' came from the Maze Runner movie title, we felt that it looked more aesthetically pleasing and would fit in with the sci-fi part of our genre.

Gathering Pictures For my Poster-13/02/16
After finding my location I then decided that I would take the photos for my poster. However, due to different commitments amongst me 3 main characters, it was hard to get them all together to take my photos. To overcome this, as the female character holds the biggest role within the movie I decided that I would have just her in my poster. So I then had to think of a way to make her look threatening so the audience wouldn't know whether or not to trust her. To do this I gave her some weaponry so that she would look threatening but also well equipped for anything. Below are the photos I took from this shoot;
This is the Image which I have decided to use for my poster, this was the image I felt worked the best;

Location Hunting for Movie Poster
I went to find some locations for my movie poster, as I needed to find a place with an abandoned building. It was difficult to find a location at first, but after a recommendation I found an abandoned petrol garage on the Skenfrith Road. I found this abandoned building and felt it was the perfect backdrop for my poster. Below are some photos I took of this location once I found it;
Defiance Movie Poster-First Draft
Below is the very first draft of my Movie poster for our film Defiance. I decided to base my poster in our intertitle "Who would you trust?" Therefore, to base my poster on this I came up with an idea that would leave the audience questioning who would they trust. To incorporate this I decided that I would have my 3 main characters from the movie posed in a picture which I would place on the whiteboard. I thought I could have my characters posed around an abandoned building, which is one of the main locations within our trailer. I decided to have one of my characters hiding behind the building, with blood dripping down their face, I then decided I would have my female character looking over to where the male was hiding as if she heard him. I would then have my other main male looking concerned holding his hand out toward the female, almost as if he heard the other character but didn't want to admit to it. I then decided to have two shadowed figures looking at the whiteboard where I will display the picture of my three main characters. One of these shadowed figures will be sat down whilst the other will be stood behind them. I felt this would relate to the intertitle "who would you trust?" as the audience will not be sure who they can trust out of these characters as they are all being watched by someone. I felt this would create mystery amongst my audience which would encourage them to go and see the film.
First Shoot 30/01/16
For our first shoot we were initially going to film up at the Sugarloaf, however, the driving conditions were very poor, so we decided to change our location to Goytre Wharf. However, this worked out better as we felt the scenery at this location added to the isolation of our characters and worked to create more mystery. We decided that this location worked better for what we wanted to create., so we have scheduled more shooting at this location to divide our original shooting schedule so that one of our locations isn't as heavily needed. So overall, the decision to change locations worked well for us. Below are some photos from the shoot;
Planning meetings for the Soundtrack
As I have been put in charge of the soundtrack, I have decided to get help from the music department. This is so that they can help me with creating the sounds and also advise me on what could be done with the soundtrack. I have arranged meeting in my free lessons to meet with some members of the music department in the music suite so that I can look at the different musical instruments and find out how I can create each sound which I intend to have throughout the soundtrack. This includes;
- A Heartbeat
- Symbols
- Drums
- Piano
- Chimes
Creating the Shooting Schedule
In order for use to ensure we are organised for filming I created a shooting schedule. I came up with each of the locations which we needed of our filming and placed each numbered shot under the location it would be filmed. I then went through and highlighted each shot to show when our characters would need to look clean and when they would need to look dirty so that we knew when we would need to change their outfits. The shooting schedule I created is shown below;
Images for Props
Below are the images which I have taken in order to create the computerised props. I gathered these images before creating the props. To do this I had to organise shoots with my actors, to do this I had to find out when they were free and when they would be available to take photos.
Mood Board for our genre
For the Genre of our movie we decided upon a post-apocalyptic/sci-fi theme. This was because we felt that this genre was increasing in popularity and particularly popular amongst the age group we targeted (16-25.) For this genre we focused upon the aspects of three films in the main; The Maze Runner, Divergent and The Hunger Games. Below I have created a Mood Board for this genre which includes some of the key aspects for this type of genre and the key aspects I picked out from different films within these two genres.

Planning the Animatic
After completing our Storyboard and analysing our shots we then moved on to plan our animatic. This is a video of still shots taken and put into a sequence similar to our storyboard. We had to gather our actors for this shot. For this we had to find 2 males and a female. To find actors we needed we looked in the sixth form drama classes where we found 2 male leads and a female lead who were interested in being a part of our trailer. We decided to look in sixth form classes as the age range we are targeting with our trailer is 16-25, so we thought that students within the sixth form drama classes would be able to represent our target audience well in our trailer. We planned shoots for our animatic so our actors knew when we would need them, at these shoots we took a number of photos, which we placed into our animatic, which will be posted onto my Blog.We created our animatic to show what shots we planned on having in our trailer and also as a trial run to see if the shots we had planned would be possible to create with our actors and in differents environments.
Planning Our Storyboard
After completing our research we then had to look at planning our storyboard for our trailer. We began by reading through our narrative and picking out the parts which we felt would fit into a trailer accurately. After picking out the parts of the narrative which we felt would link into a trailer well, we then began placing the story into shots which we felt would display the parts of our narrative well. After deciding upon these shots we then added in any background sound (such as would there be any diegetic dialogue to acompany the shot)which we felt would help to display the story of our trailer. To display these shots we drew them out and placed these drawings into a Storyboard. We then discussed these shots in video which I will place on my Blog.
